Research profile

I study wetting, functional surfaces and colloidal self-assembly. At NTU, I use Monte Carlo simulations to investigate how particle shape and depletion interactions influence chiral selection and self-sorting.

Selected research experience

From particle shape to colloidal assembly

I am developing a modular C++ Monte Carlo framework for hard particles and implicit ideal depletants. The work combines accelerated overlap detection, checkpoint/restart and literature benchmarks, and compares pairwise and many-body descriptions of depletion.

Surface & interface science

My research at UESTC focused on the physical chemistry of surfaces and interfaces, spanning superhydrophobic coatings, droplet dynamics and droplet–surface interactions, condensation, icing and frost formation. My experimental expertise includes particle synthesis and surface modification, coating formulation and fabrication, and scaling up coating production, supported by surface characterisation, wetting measurements and high-speed imaging.

Watching droplets meet structured materials

I assisted droplet-impact testing and 10,000-fps video production for a superhydrophilic–Janus bilayer window screen, and co-analysed penetration data. This work was published in Small in 2025.
